It drives me (and many others) nuts, which for some reason, when we try to force line breaks WP strip them. There is a lengthy discussion on http://wordpress.org/support/topic/73161.
This problem is not limited to Macs and is driving me crazy. There are times when we want to make an extra line between text and WP should not prevent us to do it.
